Who GETS your BEST?

In my newsletter I do a segment called “Lyrically speaking,” and recently I dove into a song called “Best of you” by the Foo Fighters. You can read the original newsletter segment here: https://preview.mailerlite.com/u6c0f4z2u1 The intended message of this song is to break free of the restraints that stop you from being yourself, but I’m going all wild child here and dive into the literal meaning: The BEST of you. SO, The BEST of you… What does that look like anyways? Does it bubble with enthusiasm, dancing around like a ballerina on opening night? Or is it grounded, empowered, and… Read More »Who GETS your BEST?

The Days no momma talks about.

Tonight I was not at my best. I watched the clock, counting the minutes, waiting for dinner to pass so I could FINALLY put him to bed. My physical body exhausted from not only chasing him around, but from spending every moment poised on high alert like some crazed hunting dog anticipating the next bird, constantly watching, and following, and waiting for the next moment to stop him from climbing the bookshelf… The back of the couch… Or the baby gates… You know, the ones that are supposed to STOP him from finding danger, *Sigh…* Mentally exhausted now; Him with… Read More »The Days no momma talks about.

Broccoli Socks.

One never expects to need broccoli socks in your life, until you have them… And suddenly, you wonder how you ever survived without! Happy little green bushes plastered over a backdrop of sunshine yellow. Goofy and random, yes, but also just enough to bring a smile to anyone who is lucky enough to notice them. Kids especially –Some of the kindergarten kids I work with have difficulties transitioning to new activities, but a perfectly timed broccoli sock distraction and we’re back on track! Hooray! A delightful little ray of sunshine amidst a routine of grey. …and why shouldn’t it be… Read More »Broccoli Socks.

With every sunrise, comes the chance to try again.

Everyday the sun rises, bringing with it new opportunities; offering us the chance to try something different, work smarter, work harder, get it right… and then it sets, bringing closure… Today I needed to remind myself of this. We all have high’s and lows in our day-to-day working life. The roller coaster of an EA though, this is a whole new existence. When I entered into this world I figured there would be good and bad days, of course, but the extremes leave me speechless. A bad day as an EA can hurt. Words filled with anger and pain often… Read More »With every sunrise, comes the chance to try again.

Gaining some clarity–cards!

Until recently I never would have defined myself as “a writer,” but hey! Here we are! And what a beautiful place to be. Thoughts, they pour from my fingers, eager to create, inspire… I am endlessly grateful for the early days of my blog, the journey it started me on, and the final product: a creative outlet that feeds my soul. This new label, Tara-the writer, continues to be a bit confusing for me. Still, I embrace it, and have decided to take my writing more seriously. So, as we do in the modern world, I took to the web,… Read More »Gaining some clarity–cards!

Curtains drawn, closing another day. A corkscrew of thoughts: Unwinding. Crimson swirls of Cabernet. Tastebuds they wake, are tickled: Tantalizing. Ambitions high, a book of words to say. My wistful thoughts, they sing along: Inspiring. —Roadblock— Lost down the Twitter hole again… Distracted. If you enjoyed this read please consider subscribing to my newsletter! My blog doesn’t see a lot of action these days because I focus my attention mostly on newsletter content… So if you want more, join my community of readers! do you expect the worst? …or prepare for it?

All signs pointed to disastrous. The night was rough. I was awake at all hours of the night, thanks to my teething 11 month old… He also decided at 4am that it was time to rise and shine!! Haha, no. Just no. After an hour of him fighting, and me begging, he slipped off into dreamworld. I was happy he was resting his little mind. But me? I felt ripped off. I was left with only half an hour before my usual alarm would go off. …sigh… Might as well start the day. The morning routine wasn’t much better. We… Read More »do you expect the worst? …or prepare for it?

perspective.

We’re all born into this place, blue in the face, and screaming for all the world to hear. Protesting from the moment our lungs breathe the air of existence. Thrown into life, to discover your own thoughts, ideas, and interpretations on what its all about. Growing, learning, and piecing it all together, like a child knee-deep in Lego, locking them together one at a time in hopes they will create something magical… One by one, building walls and castles, cars and homes, never really sure of the end result, but they continue to build anyways. Brick by Brick, trudging on… Read More »perspective.

a contagion worth spreading

Going on eighteen months now of this nonsense now. Isolation, restrictions, uncertainty… We’re all exhausted. Our mental health is suffering. I’m not even sure I see an end in sight anymore–do you? It’s been a struggle. We’ve all battled our own inner demons throughout this pandemic, and it’s really starting to show. Everyday I hear about or witness more and more unspeakable ugliness. People being rude, unreasonable and just generally ruthless in their regard to other people. The world seemingly stuck in a mentality of “every man, woman and child for themselves!” We’re all suffering. Yet, no one seems to… Read More »a contagion worth spreading

When did I become a writer?

I’ve never considered myself to be a writer; Just an average person who writes in her personal blog from time to time. Sometimes I wonder if anyone other than just a couple friends or family members take the time to read. It doesn’t matter though, I write in my blog because it brings me joy. Ideally, I would like to think that somewhere, someone is inspired by my writing, and might actually the time to consider my advice. I have been left speechless a couple times when people mention my blog, like a specific entry that they read, and LOVED!… Read More »When did I become a writer?
