Welcome!

Hello and welcome to THE BLOG! I playfully use the phrase “write to inspire, inspired to write,” but it’s so much more than just a cute little saying, it is the reason we’re here. I gain inspiration from all corners of my life, and share with you my reflections along the way. I hope my words speak to you in a way that inspires change in your life too. Below you will find a random collection of these thoughts and reflections, as well as segments from my newsletter. (Be sure to subscribe if you want to stay up to date… Read More »Welcome!

What exactly is an “Altered Expectation?”

Hello and Welcome 😊 Since you’re here I can imagine you’ve encountered my book “altered expectations,” and are probably wondering what it’s all about. So here we go: It’s a quick and simple little read that I published last year as a freebie offering to all my newsletter subscribers–here’s the thing though, my simple little book grabbed the attention of many readers, gave them fresh insight into the frustrations of their own lives, and I know this because they’ve told me so. My hope is you take the time to read it too, for I know you will be able… Read More »What exactly is an “Altered Expectation?”

Curious?

Hello and thanks for stopping by! I’ve been reflecting a lot this week on the book I’m writing, specifically how thankful I am that it’s starting to come to life. Unfortunately though, it will be a while before you can hold my words in your hands… While I work through my book’s infancy stage though, I would love to tell you where the idea was born. Curious? It was an idea that started as a simple suggestion, one that found it’s way into one of my first newsletters, episode 2 to be exact, and since then it’s remained my favourite… Read More »Curious?

Do better

Today I share with you one of my favourite quotes: “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” –Maya Angelou. I first mentioned this quote within my newsletter, episode 14 to be exact, and it was in response to resolutions–specifically that we should be embracing them whenever the mood strikes, at any time of year–because really, resolutions at their core are the result of learning, doing some work, and then applying the lesson to be just a little bit better than you were before, and why should that be limited to only once… Read More »Do better

Defining Self Care

Ahhh yes, self care. We all need it, and the clever memes of modern society have pushed us all to know it–but do you actually get it? And when you DO manage to find a few beautiful scraps of me-time, do you allow yourself the freedom to enjoy it? Or does it further add to your exhaustion? For example: There I was, planning a night out–the first in a very long time–but found myself standing in the kitchen reeling over the to-do list: put away the groceries, clean the kitchen and make dinner, but also get dressed, do my hair,… Read More »Defining Self Care

stop multi-tasking, find your focus, and live life to the fullest.

Struggle with multi-tasking? Me too. So let’s just do ourselves a favour and never do it again! (Wait, what?) Don’t fret, I’ll explain how that’s totally reasonable, and why multi-tasking is physically impossible to achieve. I listened to a podcast recently that dove into this very issue, and offers solutions on how to find your focus instead. (no I won’t tell you that you have to listen to the podcast, but I will say you’ll LOVE it if you have the time to! Link at the bottom) Anyways, the podcast guest is Dr. Amishi Jha, and she’s the expert of focus and attention. She… Read More »stop multi-tasking, find your focus, and live life to the fullest.

Failed Resolution… already?

It’s that time again: New Year, new hopes, new dreams, NEW YOU! Right?–at least, that’s what the resolution makers will tell you–but I’m here to tell you why it’s ok to let go of those resolution expectations. Every year January rolls in with the pressure of bettering yourself in some way. While I do believe self-improvement should be near the top of everyone’s list–it’s what inspires me to write for you–it shouldn’t be at the expense of feeling like a failure. That’s how it feels, doesn’t it? You’re either plugging along, working that resolution and living the good life, or… Read More »Failed Resolution… already?

A Bittersweet wrap-up to 2022

Well, here we are! Our calendars have nearly run out, and, yet again, we’re left wondering where on earth the time went–it always happens too quick!–and now, I don’t know about you, but sometimes my thoughts fall to what I wish I would have done or could have done, but didn’t… Take my writing for example. I’ve been feeling down because I just can’t find time for it. But, if I stop to really think about it, I realize just how much I’ve accomplished in this little write life of mine, and am grateful. First, I started a newsletter, which… Read More »A Bittersweet wrap-up to 2022

DECEMBER RULES

December is here! and you know what that means… A schedule full of festive celebrations, get togethers with friends and family, holiday parties, and to-do lists that bust at the seams–I’m exhausted just thinking about it.  It’s got me reflecting a lot–mostly thanks to last weeks newsletter: how to show up in life–and have been debating what that can look like through the busiest time of the year… So…how exactly do we get through it, AND enjoy it? Enter my list of December rules. Well, its not really a list of rules, more like a single rule. But, it’s not really a rule… Read More »DECEMBER RULES

Who gets the BEST of you?

The BEST of you… What does that look like anyways? Does it bubble with enthusiasm, dancing around like a ballerina on opening night? Or is it grounded, empowered, and listens to the world with intention. Perhaps your best version carries the weight of the world on its shoulders, but makes it look easy… Whatever it looks like, when you’re at your best the stars and your heart align, your mind clear from nonsense, and you’re simply content in the world as it flows past–you can take on anything. This version though, who’s lucky enough to know it? Is it reserved… Read More »Who gets the BEST of you?
